Requirements
Duggan Brothers Ltd is one of Ireland’s leading general building and civil engineering contractors. They undertake both private and public sector projects across Ireland, ranging in value from €1million to over €35 million.
As the main contractor for an extensive renovation and building works programme at Ashton Grammar School, they required a cost effective classroom solution for relocating the students throughout the duration of the project.

Solution
Alan Lehane, Contracts Manager at Duggan Brothers, explains how Portakabin fulfilled their needs: “It offered value for money on the commercial front, identifying its Portakabin Titan product as a very cost effective solution for our interim classrooms.”
In addition, Portakabin assisted in a value engineering exercise to find cost savings by changing the proposed interim accommodation layout to come in under our tender budget.”
Eight Portakabin Titan buildings were supplied as classrooms to Ashton Grammar School, primarily as open plan teaching space with one unit used as a computer room and another as a chapel.
A substantial part of the cost saving was down to the fact that the buildings recommended by Portakabin were ‘jackleg’ buildings. Unlike other modular accommodation and traditional builds, the Portakabin Titan does not require extensive foundations which subsequently have to be removed when the interim buildings are returned – an expense which is typically absorbed by the contractor.
Portakabin provided value for money, a professional service and delivered on the commitments it made at tender stage. The product quality was excellent and we would definitely use Portakabin again.
