Modular construction is the process of using pre-fabricated units called modules that are then transported to site. The modular structures used in modular construction can stand-alone or be connected side-by-side, end-to-end or in multiple storeys to make buildings of any scale or layout. The use of modular structures in modular construction works means they can be used for almost any interim or permanent application, ranging from site huts to state-of-the-art operating theatres.

  1. Speed

Due to the nature of modular structures, groundworks and foundations are completed while modules are manufactured off site meaning your project can be delivered up to 70% faster than traditional construction methods1.

  2. Flexibility

Modular buildings can be easily expanded, reduced, reconfigured or relocated to meet your changing needs.

  3. 90% less vehicle movements

Less disruption and increased safety: modules can be installed in a matter of days meaning modular construction can result in 90% less vehicle movements2 so your site can operate as usual while construction work is carried out.

  4. Reliability

Modular construction is not subject to the same weather-related delays or skill shortages as site based construction. Once the modules are in place the building can be ready for occupation.

  5. 90% less waste

Reduced waste: off-site construction generates up to 90% less waste than traditional on-site building methods3. The factory-controlled process of leading manufacturers also minimises the amount of energy necessary to create a building.

The project team was fast and responsive, which was key to the success of the project. We are also very happy with the quality of finish and the additional elements which give the building a permanent feel and further improve the student experience.
