Portakabin is thrilled to announce the launch of its Women’s Network today, on International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day is recognised globally and for over a century has marked a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The theme for 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. As Portakabin celebrates the progress its already made, it also acknowledges that there is still more to do.
The Women’s Network at Portakabin has a purpose to celebrate and support women in their personal and professional journey and will be hosting a launch event in April for employees across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Kim Panton, People & Culture Director at Portakabin said: “This is a huge step for Portakabin, and we have a passionate and enthusiastic committee behind this initiative. We are not alone in this journey, and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can be at their best and reach their full potential. The construction industry on average has a 75:25 gender split and whilst we appreciate there is more to do to drive gender parity, we hope our Women’s Network will bring about positive action within our own organisation and help make recommendations further afield.”
One of the most important elements of the Women’s Network at Portakabin is that it champions inclusivity of all forms across the organisation. Many companies have established Women’s Networks and they provide valuable support, shared learning and networking opportunities as well as championing inclusion in its broadest sense.
