Portakabin is set to deliver a new 170-place special educational needs school just outside Norwich.
The school, which will be for children with learning and cognition needs from 4 to 19, will be in the village of Easton and provide purpose-built facilities including a forest school area and a specialist Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) unit.
The free school, which will be run by The Bridge Trust, is part of Norfolk County Council’s £120 million five-year transformation programme which has pledged to create 500 new specialist education places. It will be funded by the Department for Education following a successful bid to the Government’s free school programme by the county council.
The building work will be delivered by modular building experts Portakabin and managed by Silica Associates. The school is due to open in January 2023.
Planning permission was granted by Norfolk County Council. Admissions for all special schools are arranged through Norfolk County Council.
