The shortlist for the InsideOut Awards has been announced and Portakabin has been recognised in three categories.
The annual InsideOut Awards celebrates organisations and individuals across industries, showcasing leadership, innovation, and best practice in focusing on the mental health agenda at work.
Portakabin has been shortlisted for U.K. Large Employer Of The Year (Non-Financial Services), the Mental Health First Aid Award and Wellbeing Leader Award.
Construction is part of a notoriously high-risk industry. The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity states two construction workers take their own life every working day in the UK - a staggering statistic.
This recognition shows how Portakabin is leading the charge in changing perceptions of mental health in the construction industry by taking matters into their own hands.
A signatory of the Mindful Employer charter since 2017, and the Time to Change Employer Pledge since 2019, Portakabin has made leaps and bounds in creating a workplace which promotes positive mental health.
With new colleagues trained each year, the business has a strong network of over 50 Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs), 200 suicide alert helpers, monthly wellbeing campaigns, and mental health training available for managers and all employees.
Corina Carney, Health & Wellbeing Specialist at Portakabin, has also been recognised in the shortlist for the Wellbeing Leader Award.
We are delighted to be shortlisted and to celebrate how far we have come in creating a safe and supportive workplace. Supporting mental health is no longer a nice-to-have but an essential component in enabling people to thrive. We will continue to show our commitment with particular focus this year on raising awareness and having open and supportive conversations.
With plans to deliver new workshops and training in 2023, the business is only just getting started at working to build a reality for an industry where construction doesn’t come at a cost.
