The Requirements
The Theatre Royal in Glasgow is the city’s oldest theatre and home of Scottish Opera. A major refurbishment project to create a new entrance, spacious new foyers, cloakrooms, hospitality suites, bars and toilet facilities meant that existing foyer areas and toilets had to be temporarily closed down. Short-term toilet facilities were required for theatregoers during the building works.
This was a landmark project for Scottish Opera, who were catering for a discerning theatre-going clientele, so it was important for them to choose a high standard of interim toilets.
Having looked at a number of suppliers Scottish Opera chose Portakabin as they could provide high-quality buildings, at the right price.

The Solution
Portakabin supplied three of its premium-quality toilet buildings to provide the short-term facilities required. Spacious, well-ventilated toilet buildings are equipped to domestic standards with fully flushing toilets, high-quality sanitary ware, hot and cold running water and a high standard of fit-out.
For this prestigious project, the buildings had to be located on a busy road adjacent to the theatre, giving guests easy access from the main building. Delivery was arranged for a Sunday morning to minimise disruption to traffic. The buildings were craned into place on a closed lane of the road, between high buildings.
The toilets were clean, bright and presentable, providing exactly the quality of interim facilities needed and performing well throughout. The service from Portakabin was professional and responsive.
